FAQS

Find the
answers
you need

What's the difference between a Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast charger?

Level 1 uses a standard 10A power point and charges very slowly (~10–15km of range per hour). Level 2 (the most popular home option) uses a dedicated 32A circuit and charges at 7kW–22kW (~40–100km per hour). DC fast chargers are typically commercial installations delivering 50kW or more. For home use, Level 2 is the sweet spot.

Can I charge my EV with my solar panels?

Yes — and it's one of the best ways to reduce your EV running costs to near zero. We can configure your EV charger to automatically charge when your solar system is producing excess energy.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade for an EV charger?

It depends on your existing switchboard's capacity and condition. Many homes need a small upgrade or a new dedicated circuit. We assess this during our free site visit.

Can my EV charger work during a blackout?

Standard EV chargers will not operate during a grid outage. However, some battery + EV charger combinations (such as Zappi paired with a compatible battery system) can continue charging during a blackout. Ask us about this option.
